Endowed Funds for Fellowship Support

Bethea Scott Owen
Established in 2013 through a bequest of Bethea Scott Owen to support writers, visual artists, and composers.

Columbus School for Girls Endowment
Fellowships for artists who have been students or faculty at the Columbus School for Girls in Co­lumbus, Ohio. The fund may also be used for other Fellows.

G. Edwards R. Hadas Fellowship
Established in 2012 in memory of composer George Edwards by his wife Rachel Hadas. This two-week Fellowship is presented annually and alternates between composers, creative writers, and visual artists.

Eric M. and S. Phillip Heiner Endowed Residency
Established in 2005 and funded by longtime VCCA supporter Frances Heiner of Lynchburg, Virginia, this residency supports a highly deserving artist each year. The fellowship is named in honor of Heiner’s sons, Eric M. and S. Phillip Heiner.

Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) Fellowship
Supports fellowships for MICA faculty and alumni.

Robert Johnson Endowment Fund
Established by Fellows and Friends in memory of longtime VCCA staff member Robert Johnson.

William Sackett Fellowship
Established in 2007 through a bequest of VCCA Board Member William Sackett to support artist residencies at VCCA

The Karen Shea and Gabe Silverman Endowed Fellowship
This endowed residency was established to honor the memory of Karen Shea and Gabe Silverman of Charlottesville, Virginia.

Cy Twombly Endowed Fellowship
Residency fund established through a gift from the Cy Twombly Foundation following the death of American artist Cy Twombly, VCCA Fellow and Advisory Council Member.


Endowed Funds for Operational Support

The Elizabeth Coles Langhorne Memorial Endowment for VCCA in France
The endowment was named for Elizabeth Langhorne, one of the founders of VCCA this fund supports maintenance, improvement and operation of all currently owned Auvillar, France properties.
