"As always, the other Fellows were a wonderful, brilliant, exciting group — very generous...I learned and was inspired by the work of the other writers, composers, visual artists...I am always inspired by the beauty and loveliness of this place." —Elaine Orr, writer, Raleigh, NC

For 45 years VCCA has attracted renowned mature artists, along with talented younger artists at the beginning of their professional careers. Admission is highly competitive. Each year VCCA supports the work of over 500 artists (writers, visual artists and composers) at its two locations: Mt. San Angelo in Amherst, VA and the Moulin à Nef in Auvilllar, France. At  VCCA  25 Fellows are typically in residence at one time. These can include Pulitzer Prize winners, Guggenheim Fellows, recipients of NEA and MacArthur Fellowships, Grammies and National Book Awards. Once artists come to VCCA, they become part of a strong community of fellow artists — Fellows who share ideas and support each other, even beyond their time together at VCCA.

The links to the left take you to listings of VCCA Fellows who have created profiles on our website. These lists are in no way comprehensive. These profiles are maintained by the individual Fellows.

If you are a VCCA Fellow and would like to create your own profile, please be in touch with us via email (vcca at and we will get you started.
