Over the course of a temporarily closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, VCCA stayed active with virtual events, regular newsletters, and more.
“Virtual VCCA” has come to mean many things since its inception of April 2020. In the name of online connectivity, we have launched a live video event series, established an online community platform, found new ways to highlight Fellows’ work, and more.
Below, we share ways to stay engaged with our creative community virtually.
A Community Newsletter: Wednesday Lemonade/Cider
As a nod to the in-person gatherings that traditionally take place among Fellows in residence and staff at Mt. San Angelo over lemonade (or cider, when the weather turns cold), this newsletter hits inboxes at 4:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the month.
An Online Community: Virtual VCCA
Powered by Mighty Networks, “Virtual VCCA” is a private online community platform where members can start private chats, share work, post online events, and more. Fellows, donors, and friends are invited to participate.
VCCA Fireplace Series
Established in the spirit of the sharing of work that takes place among VCCA Fellows after dinner in front of the fireplace at Mt. San Angelo, this live video event series features presentations by VCCA Fellows (writers, visual artists, and/or composers) on the third Thursday of each month.
VCCA Fellows Bookshop
VCCA created a Bookshop affiliate page as an easy way to collect, highlight, and support new work by VCCA Fellows whose book launches, readings, signings, tours, and other events have been canceled or postponed due to the pandemic.

Online Shop
While Fellows can’t peruse VCCA merchandise in person, we’ve put together an online inventory list. For now, we’re selling T-shirts, caps, lanyards, postcard sets, and an anthology. Browse the current selection of VCCA swag, and submit your order request and contact info to Bea Booker:
VCCA Zoom Backgrounds
We’ve put together a collection of photos from Mt. San Angelo and Le Moulin à Nef that have been formatted to use as virtual backgrounds in Zoom meetings:
