Keeping with the spirit in which the VCCA received the Moulin a Nef, and to further cultural exchange and arts programming, we welcome like-minded arts and cultural organizations to use our arts center for their own workshops.
This summer and fall, the VCCA France welcomes the return of the Southwest School of Art and Craft and The Visual Arts Center of Richmond to Moulin a Nef. These organizations offer their own arts workshops which are hosted by the VCCA at our studio center in Auvillar. They are open to the public. For more information, please contact these organizations directly.
Embark on a remarkable visual journey led by VCCA Fellow and 2007 Moulin a Nef Resident Director, studio artist Jeannette MacDougall, pictured at right. This drawing and painting workshop offers one-on-one drawing and painting instruction in a variety of remarkable settings taking advantage of sweeping vistas and landscapes that have changed little over centuries. Certain to inspire even the most discerning artists' eye, this is an opportunity to experience the food, wine, and charm of Auvillar and its environs. The workshop is open to all levels of experience. For more information visit the Southwest School of Art & Craft online or contact Barbara Hill, Director of Public Programs 210-224-1848, ext. 339.
Workshops in clay, watercolor painting, photography, and writing. Faculty members and VCCA Fellows Richard McCord will work with clay students, Deirdre McAfee with writers and Alyssa Salomon will lead an innovative class in non-darkroom photography. Shelly Shepherd will work with watercolor painters. Please note: these are tentative travel dates. The workshops will coincide with the annual European pottery festival in Auvillar which celebrates the village's history as the epicenter of the French Faience tradition. The Marché des Potiers, October 13th and 14th, attracts potters from all over Europe who converge upon the tiny hamlet to sell their varied and fascinating handcrafted wares. For more information please visit the Visual Arts Center of Richmond online.
