As part of our ongoing efforts to support the work of artists we have created regional initiatives and special fellowships that defray the costs of a residency at VCCA. The VCCA has partnered with leading philanthropic foundations and arts organizations around the country to make it easier for artists to participate in residencies at the VCCA. Qualifying artists who apply for fellowships at the VCCA may have all or part of their residency fee subsidized.
Artists from New Jersey, southwest Pennsylvania, Washington, DC, Virginia and other mid-Atlantic states may be eligible for low- or no-cost residencies thanks to our partners.
For example, the J and E Berkley Foundation of Ivy, Virginia, enhances the quality of life in central Virginia by supporting residencies of deserving artists at the VCCA. Since 2000, the Berkley Foundation has made generous investments in the creative work of artists, which are returned to the citizens of Virginia as paintings, sculpture, novels, and symphonies.
