STUDIO FACILITIES: FRANCE

Residencies in the South of France

The studios at "Le Moulin à Nef" are located in the village's port area overlooking the Garonne River.  A downstairs sculpture stdudio was created as a working ceramics facility. It is approximately 25 x 35 feet with high ceilings, a settlement sink, and access to the cement courtyard and slop sink in the back. There are two kilns and multiple kickwheels.

Two of the upstairs studios are about 15 x 18 with desks, office chairs, rugs and lamps. They work well for writers or visual artists. The central studio is 16 x 16 with a 16 foot ceiling height and state of the art halogen lighting. The building is equipped with two bathrooms and connects to a charming outdoor courtyard.

Our two buildings are situated on the Garonne River in the Old Port section of the village. VCCA Fellow Jeannette MacDougall will be on site as VCCA staff liaison living in La Cloucado. Auvillar may be accessed by the airport at Toulouse (about 90 km to the east) or the train station at Valence d'Agen (about 5 km away).

A second floor open space can be used for studio, classroom, or exhibition space. This area measures 500 square feet and has a 16- foot ceiling height.
Two rooms with locking doors, each 300 square feet, are located on the building's second floor and can be used as studios, meeting space, or classrooms.
