Etchings Festival

Announcing the 2012 Etchings Festival!

July 7-14
Auvillar, France

Once again, ECCE is partnering with VCCA to create an international conference of contemporary music. The festival aims to provide participants with the opportunity to study with international guest artists and have their music professionally recorded.

The 2012 Etchings Festival will feature guest composers Philippe Hurel and George Tsontakis along with the guest ensemble, L'arsenale.

Throughout the festival, participants will work closely with the performers of the East Coast Contemporary Ensemble and all Etchings Festival faculty.

The emphasis of the festival is on the production of high quality performances of participant compositions. In the past, festival composers John Aylward, Louis Karchin, Fabien Levy, David Rakowski, Beth Weimann and James Wiznerowicz gave private lessons and chaired daily masterclasses and seminars.

Each year, ECCE (East Coast Contemporary Ensemble) partners with VCCA to create an international conference of contemporary music in Auvillar, France. It provides a unique platform for the ensemble to share the best of contemporary American repertoire with European audiences.

Of the professional and student composers attending the 2011 festival, eight had their compositions performed and recorded over the course of three concerts. Each afternoon, guest composers Stefano Gervasoni and Lee Hyla chaired master classes for participants.
