The 2013 Etchings Festival
July 7-14
Auvillar, France

Applications for the 2013 Etchings Festival are now available! This year, we are excited to welcome Georg Friedrich Haas and Fred Lerdahl as our guest composers! The festival will be held from July 7th to July 14th.
Both professional and student composers are welcome to apply. Participants will have their works performed and recorded by guest ensemble Ecce over the course of three concerts during the festival. Participant works will be rehearsed daily and each work will be given a dedicated recording session. Evening concerts will offer opportunities for performers and audiences to interact with live performances of participant works.
Each afternoon, guest composers Georg Friedrich Haas and Fred Lerdahl will chair master classes on participant works, coach rehearsals, and give lessons.
The population of Auvillar is deeply invested in the arts. Audience members from the community attend concerts as well as open master classes and rehearsals. The public nature of the festival creates optimal participant interaction with the performers and the larger artistic community in Auvillar. Between sessions, participants are encouraged to explore the exceptional cultural environment of Auvillar and its spectacular natural surroundings in southwest France.

The 2012 Etchings Festival
July 7-14
Auvillar, France

Once again, ECCE partnered with VCCA to create an international conference of contemporary music. The festival provides participants with the opportunity to study with international guest artists and have their music professionally recorded.
The 2012 Etchings Festival featured guest composers Philippe Hurel and George Tsontakis along with the guest ensemble, L'arsenale.
Throughout the festival, participants worked closely with the performers of the East Coast Contemporary Ensemble and all Etchings Festival faculty.
The emphasis of the festival is on the production of high quality performances of participant compositions. In the past, festival composers John Aylward, Louis Karchin, Fabien Levy, David Rakowski, Beth Weimann and James Wiznerowicz gave private lessons and chaired daily masterclasses and seminars.
