International Exchange Programs
Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus in Schwandorf, Germany
Tyrone Guthrie Centre in County Monaghan, Ireland
A one-month residency at Annaghmakerrig, the former estate of Sir Tyrone Guthrie, seventy miles from Dublin. The Centre provides a residential program similar to the VCCA providing artists with private studios and prepared meals in the company of other visiting artists.
City of Salzburg, Austria
A six-week residency from August through mid-September. The residency is a cultural exchange with the city of Salzburg, which provides a combined studio and living space and a stipend of 850€ in the Künstlerhaus. Knowledge of the German language is helpful, but not essential. The Künstlerhaus is the center of the city and houses twenty-two artist studios, but only one other residential space. The experience can be somewhat solitary and Fellows are encouraged to bring a friend or partner with them and to inform themselves about the city before they arrive.
Fondazzjoni Kreattività in Gozo, Malta
A two-week residency on the Mediterranean island of Gozo (part of the Maltese archipelago) between September 1, 2017 - January 1, 2018. In addition to time to focus on your own work, Fellows will particiate in a public workshop or presentation to be arranged in conjunction with Fondazzjoni Kreattività. The residency includes housing (with a full kitchen) and studio space, as well as a daily stipend of 25 euros, airport transfers to/from the Gozo residence on arrival/departure. Fellows will be assisted by the Fondazzjoni Kreattività staff in planning and coordinating the project development, logistics as well as the visit itinerary. Gozo is a secluded island and the trip to and from Valetta (Malta's capitol) takes several hours. The solitary aspects of the residency allow for concentrated work.
Schloss Plüschow in Mecklenburg, Germany
A four-week residency in April in a residential studio facility near the Baltic Sea. VCCA Fellows enjoy a large studio and adjacent studio apartment with bathroom and kitchen facilities in a 17th century chateau housing other artists’ studios. It is close to the port city of Wismar and easy driving distance from the shore. There is a local train station with connections to Hamburg, Lübeck, and Berlin. Fellows are responsible for preparing their own meals. You may arrange for a friend or partner to stay with you for a small fee.
