Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Jennifer Howard lives there now with her husband, the writer Mark Trainer, their two children, and too many pets. Her short fiction and flash fiction have been published in VQR, The Collagist, The Smoking Poet, The Blue Moon Review, and other magazines, and in the collections DC Noir (Akashic Books) and Amazing Graces (Paycock Press). Her essays, reviews, and reported pieces have appeared in many places, including The Times Literary Supplement, The Washington Post, The Chronicle of Higher Education, McSweeney’s, Humanities, The Boston Review, Slate, Salon, Bookforum, and other publications. Howard is currently at work on a nonfiction book that's part memoir, part reportage, and part cultural history.
