Paula Whyman's New Fiction in The Gettysburg Review, Gargoyle #57, and Schaum

Paula Whyman's short story, "You May See a Stranger," appears in the Summer 2012 issue of The Gettysburg Review. Her flash piece, "Another Story," appears in Gargoyle #57, edited by Richard Peabody, VCCA Fellow. Her story "True Confessions of an American Waif," appears in English in the German journal Schaum, edited by Tim Kellner, visual artist and VCCA Fellow.
Whyman Receives Grant From Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County

Paula Whyman has been awarded an individual artist grant by the Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County. The grant is intended to support work on her collection of linked short stories. The working title for the collection is JUMP.
Paula Whyman Receives Short Fiction Award

Paula Whyman received the American Independent Writing Award in Short Fiction for her story, "Statute of Limitations," which appeared in the March/April 2009 issue of Bethesda Magazine. The award was given at the AIW annual conference in Washington, DC, on June 12.

In a NewPages review of the Summer 2012 issue of The Gettysburg Review, Paula Whyman's story, "You May See a Stranger," is praised as possessing the "essential pacing and characterization and emotional control that one might expect of Pam Houston." The reviewer, Mary Florio, adds that "Whyman's us
