Steven Petrow LGBTQ Fellowship
The Steven Petrow LGBTQ Fellowship is open to applicants working in all genres (writers, visual artists, and/or composers) and consists of a fully-funded two-week residency at VCCA. This fellowship includes a private room, board, and an individual work studio. To be eligible applicants must self-identify as LGBTQ. Steven Petrow is a journalist and book author whose own work about LGBTQ issues found much support at VCCA over the past decade.
Initiated by VCCA Fellow and former Board member Alonzo Davis, this fellowship has been established as an endowment to support writers, visual artists and composers who are American citizens of African or Latino descent. There is a seperate applicaiton for this fellowship. This fellowship has a yearly deadline of January 15 for residencies June 1 - May 31.
Thanks to a grant from The Bama Works Fund of Dave Matthews Band, Charlottesville area artists’ residencies were partially subsidized. The Bama Works Fund supports writers, composers and visual artists from the counties of Albemarle, Greene, Orange, Louisa, Fluvanna, Buckingham, and Nelson.
Since 2000, thanks to a grant from The J & E Berkley Foundation, Charlottesville area artists’ residencies were partially subsidized. The Berkley Foundation supports writers, composers and visual artists from the counties of Albemarle, Greene, Orange, Louisa, Fluvanna, Buckingham, Nelson, Rockingham, Augusta, and Madison.
Since 2003, through its Creative Fellowships Program, the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation supports a fully funded one-month residency for artists each year from the mid-Atlantic states and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Currently, eligibility is for one artist from each of the following: New York, Maryland, Delaware, and West Virginia.
