Traveling by Car
From points north of Washington, D.C., take the Beltway (I-495) toward Silver Spring to I-66. Take Interstate 66 West out of Washington, D.C., to Route 29 South at Gainesville (Exit 43A). Take Route 29 South; bypass Warrenton, Culpeper and Charlottesville. At Amherst, take the 29 Business South/Madison Heights exit. This is also the exit for Sweet Briar College. You will merge onto Business 29 South. The VCCA entrance, San Angelo Drive, is the first left after your pass the Sweet Briar College entrance on the right.
From points south of Virginia, take Route 29 North. Follow the 29 North/Charlottesville signs closely as you approach - and bypass - Lynchburg. Cross the James River and then take the third exit for 29 North Business/Amherst. This is also the exit for Sweet Briar College. Turn left at the stop sign, onto 29 South Business. The entrance to VCCA, San Angelo Drive, is on your left, about one-half mile after you pass the entrance to Sweet Briar College on the right.

Traveling by Train
Take Amtrak to Lynchburg, VA.
Traveling by Plane
Take US Air Express to Lynchburg, VA. Other carriers serve Roanoke, Virginia (approx. 70 miles away) and Charlottesville, Virginia (approx. 50 miles away).
Traveling by Bus
Take Greyhound-Trailways Lines to Lynchburg, Virginia.
If you are traveling from New York City, there is a non-stop and very comfortable shuttle bus that runs between New York and Charlottesville, with a van run to Lynchburg. Visit the Starlight Express website for fares and schedule or call 434-295-0782. Please note that Charlottesvile is 50 miles north of VCCA. You must arrange for a taxi or other transportation from Charlottesville to Amherst. Check with Starlight Express or one of the taxi services below for further information.

From the South: Take US-29 North towards Lynchburg, Virginia. Once you reach Lynchburg, oontinue on US-29 BUS N/Wards Road. Take the US-501 S/US-29 N exit, just after River Ridge Mall. Continue North into Amherst County for about 15 miles. Turn right onto N. Coolwell Road (Rt. 663), and then turn left onto Stage Road (Rt. 661). The entrance to VCCA will be about 1 mile down on your left. As you enter the VCCA the studio barn complex will be on your right. Drive past the barn and the office (on your left) and you will wind your way around to the Elizabeth Coles Langhorne Residence for Fellows on your left.
From the North: After entering Amherst County, take the US-29 BUS S/Madison Heights exit. Continue about 1.5 miles then turn left onto N. Coolwell Road (Rt. 663), and then turn left onto Stage Road (Rt. 661). The entrance to VCCA will be about 1 mile down on your left. As you enter the VCCA the studio barn complex will be on your right. Drive past the barn and the office (on your left) and you will wind your way around to the Elizabeth Coles Langhorne Residence for Fellows on your left.
