L.E.A.W. Family Foundation Supporting Montana Artists

Each year, the VCCA awards two fully-funded, one-month residencies for Montana visual artists, writers or composers funded by the L.E.A.W. Family Foundation of Missoula. Applications are currently being accepted for residencies between June and September 2009 with a postmark deadline for applications of January 15, 2009. The next deadline is May 15, 2009 for residencies between October 2009 and January 2010.

Montana artists are encouraged to apply for residencies (valued at $5,400) as a means of concentrating exclusively on their creative work. Residencies include a private bedroom, studio and all meals in a community setting with 25 other artists from around the United States and many foreign countries. Admission is highly selective based on previous achievement or promise of achievement.

To apply, submit a standard application with a cover letter indicating your interest in the LEAW Fellowship.

Past recipients of L.E.A.W. Fellowships have included Noellynn Pepos, a visual artist from Victor; Loren Graham, a writer from Helena; Brandon Shimoda, a writer from Missoula; Katie Knight, a visual artist from Helena; and Melissa Kwasny, a writer from Jefferson City.
