How to get to the VCCA

 

Traveling by car
From points north of Washington, D.C., take the Beltway (I-495) towards Silver Spring to I-66. Take Interstate 66 West out of Washington, D.C. to Route 29 South at Gainesville (Exit 43A). Take Route 29 South; bypass Warrenton, Culpeper and Charlottesville. At Amherst, take the 29 Business South/Madison Heights exit. This is the same exit for Sweet Briar College. You will merge onto Business 29 South. The VCCA entrance, San Angelo Drive, is the first left after your pass the Sweet Briar College entrance on the right.

From points south of Virginia, take Route 29 North. Follow the 29 North/Charlottesville signs closely as you approach and bypass Lynchburg. Cross the James River and then take the third exit for 29 N Business/Amherst. This is also the exit for Sweet Briar College. Turn left at the stop sign, onto 29 S Business. The entrance to the VCCA, San Angelo Drive, is on your left, about one-half mile after you pass the entrance to Sweet Briar College on the right.

If you plan to travel by car, let us know in advance your approximate arrival time, so that our kitchen and housekeeping staff can prepare. If you will be arriving in inclement weather please use the back entrance to the property. Click here for inclement weather directions.

Traveling by train
Take the AMTRAK CRESCENT to Lynchburg, VA.

Traveling by plane
Take DELTA or US AIR EXPRESS to Lynchburg, VA. Other carriers serve Roanoke, VA (approx. 70 miles away) and Charlottesville, VA (approx. 50 miles away).

Traveling by bus
Take GREYHOUND-TRAILWAYS LINES to Lynchburg, Virginia. If you are travelling from New York City, there is a non-stop and very comfortable shuttle bus that runs between New York and Charlottesville, with a van run to Lynchburg. Visit the Starlight Express website for fares and schedule or call 434-295 -0782.

Please let us know your time of arrival and pertinent travel information one week in advance. Transportation services are provided by Sandidge Taxi, 434-946-7873. Please call and schedule your pick up at least two weeks in advance.For assistance in arranging transportation to and from the VCCA please contact VCCA Office Manager Bea Booker.

From Lynchburg is about $30 to $35.
From Charlottesville is about $80 to $90.
From Roanoke is about $105.
From Washington, D.C. is about $275 to $350.
