ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIPS
There is one work-study scholarship for each of the three 2008 writing workshops. This award is merit-based, but any applicant for the work-study must be prepared to set up and clear away meals, perform light housekeeping duties, and assists the workshop leader as needed.

The work-study participant is selected by the workshop leader. The selection is based on the merit of the work submitted with the application. The recipient will receive a $1,000 reduction toward the cost of the workshop.

None of the work-study scholarship duties will interfere with recipients full participation in the writing classes or social and cultural activities planned for the duration. One day arrival prior to the actual start of the workshop date is required for orientation. Please be aware of this before applying.

TO APPLY FOR A WORK-STUDY SCHOLARSHIP
Please enclose a $20 application check or money order and 10-page writing sample with your entry and application form. Note: No deposit fee is due when applying for scholarship consideration. Upon notification of receiving the scholarship award, recipients will then be required to pay a $500 deposit fee toward the reduced cost of workshop. Please note on the application form that you are applying for a scholarship and indicate which workshop you are interested in.

The VCCA reserves the right not to award work-study scholarships if less than the minimum number of applicants has been met. In that case, the entry fee will be refunded.
